Sample Prep

• For Negative Staining, the Cryo-EM Core Facility will supply the following:
  • Uranyl formate solution
  • Uranyl acetate solution
  • Standard carbon grids (Ted Pella, Formvar with continuous carbon—cat #01754-F)* $1.50 per grid
  • Tweezers and all necessary hardware at no cost
• For Cryo-EM grid preparation, the Cryo-EM Core Facility will supply the following*:
  • Tweezers and all necessary hardware at no cost
  • Liquid nitogren and ethane at no cost
  • For those doing cryo-tomography, we will also supply gold fiducial markers
  • Standard Quantifoil R2/2 grids (Quantifoil Q250-CR2)* $10.00 per grid
  • For grid clipping (C-clip base and C ring $19.00 per pair).

Some experiments may require alternate treatment. If this is the case consult with the Director about the special needs for your project. In this case the laboratory is responsible for providing their own supplies.
