Cryo-EM is a powerful imaging method that enables researchers to visualize vitrified biological samples at near-atomic resolution in their native state. Our facility supports projects including single particle analysis, tomography, micro-ED, and sample preparation with FIB-SEM, as well as the instrumentation and expertise to drive new scientific discoveries.
The MSU RTSF Cryo-EM Core Facility was started in 2019. In 2025 the facility underwent a major renovation, and we are now excited to offer three state of the art electron microscopes for MSU and external users: a Talos Arctica equipped with a Selectris energy filter and Falcon 4i camera, a Titan Krios equipped with a Selectris X energy filter and Falcon 4i camera, and Helios Hydra Bio for FIB-SEM.
Our website offers plenty of resources for getting started in cryo-EM. If you decide that cryo-EM is right for your projects, please reach out to schedule a consultation.
